I know it sounds a little strange coming from me (the ultimate animal right’s inquisition captain) but I have discovered “Doris” over at: About Animal Rights . com

On more than one occasion I have actually agreed with her philosophies concerning Vegetarianism and Animal Right’s!    Recently one such time is how she talks about the holidays and when this is the most critical time to be aware, as Christmas time is when many people give “PETS” as gifts.
Please think twice about doing this because even if  ”you” are a responsible pet owner, this does not mean that the recipient of such a gift is!

There is so much responsibility which goes hand in hand with pet ownership and it would be much more appropriate to give another (non living) Christmas gift instead.

Go visit Doris and give her some thanks for keeping us aware of the heavy responsibilities of owning a pet!

Aren’t humans amazing Animals? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.

Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – - health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.

So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions of more animals to look for cures for these diseases.

Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.

Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and once a year send out cards praying for “Peace on Earth.”

Thank you for stopping by JC!

It really is an absurd and vicious cycle which we ourselves place ourselves into.

My choice to consume meat which is managed and, or raised by myself alone stems from my disgust with Factory Farmed meat.
Not just from the chemicals which are introduced into Factory Farmed animals, but also from the atrocious conditions which the animals have to live in just because of such high demand for the product.

There is nothing worse to me than the pungent aroma of a pig sty which contains too many animals for the amount of space which they have to live in.
Then, taking home a store bought set of pork chops and smelling that same putrid scent wafting up from a hot cooking skillet.

I am most certain that you will never completely convince me to give up my meat eating practices, and there are many non-vegans/vegetarians whom share my same sentiments here towards Factory Farmed meat.
The reason why I wrote this particular post is that there must be some sort of compromise as yet undiscovered, that will quell the violent attitudes which readily surface between the Vegans/Vegetarians and the Meat Eating populace.

As I have stated in my user profile if you click on it, Extremism on any front is non-productive and I just will not tolerate it. Also, an extremist is so blinded by “cause” that just simply: to quote an old cliche’ here, They Can’t See The Forest Because Of All The Trees!

I figure that a start to mending the rift between us all and finding some common ground, is understanding that the sad misconception of giving an animal for a Christmas present is O.K. and very prevalent in our society.
As I have stated in this post, the giver of such a gift might be a very responsible pet owner, this however does not guarantee that the recipient of such a gift will be.

As a wildetarian, I’d join Doris’ club if I didn’t hunt & fish. That said some ranchers hereabouts are doing a good job with grass-fed “organic” beef.

Check out the animation “The Meatrix” if you’ve never seen it–good take on the factory farming problem.

And thanks for spreading the word about the responsibilities of pet ownership. Wish soemone could drill that into my boneheaded neighbor with three neglected dogs.

Thanks for the comment’s Eco Rover,
Loved the most recent post’s over at your “blog” , both were quite tongue in cheek and humorous, but addressed very real issues concerning the re-introduction of wolves in Montana.

    Please stop by more often!
